Scorecast and Tablecast update 25/04/2023

Getting closer and closer to the end of the season and, would you "Adam and Eve" it... we're THIRD in the table! Unbelievable, and what a game that was! Unlike everyone else on the planet, though, I'm not here to talk about the Spurs game. I will post this pic, though.

Okay, now that the tip of the hat is out of the way... onto the report for Round 18 and Gameweek 32 of the Scorecast and Tablecast competitions, respectively. First, the Scorecast. Here's the top half of the table:

ree

Stephen Hill, with the round's top score of 14, leapfrogs David Russell and Rory Robertson to go top by 4 points (which is a lot at this point in the season). David's round got a bit better after a really terrible start so he stays 4th, but has gone from being a point ahead of 2nd place, to 8 points behind 1st. Champion, John Thompson, with a second-best score of 12, has got himself to 8 points off the top as well, and is ahead of David by one bullseye. Robert Pentland was on the same points as the league leader last round, but has had an absolutely dismal time of it, picking up only two points. Things could get really tasty at the top over these next few rounds. We've seen how quickly people can drop points and places but I think it's one of the current top 6 that will walk away with... well, with whatever the prize is... we still haven't decided yet.

David Waters has worked his way into the top 10 but twin John Waters fell off a bit over the last couple of games and remains in 13th. Tony Bosworth rises 3 places to reach the top half...

ree

... with Wayne Dance going the other way. He clung on in the top half for ages but has dropped (temporarily, perhaps?) to the lower half of the league. Pretty impressive, though, seeing as he's only played 16!

George Bland and Dougie Gibson sit exactly equal, exactly in the middle of the table. Kay Waters is the only person with double figures in the bottom half and, based on the changes we've seen at the top, there's no reason she couldn't make a late break for the top half if she keeps predicting like that.

Round 19 is open now and can be found by clicking on the pic below. A quick glance at the entries already in for the round, I can see that Joseph Askew (27th place, 2-1), Sandy Barber (34th, 4-2), Tony Bosworth (30th, 2-0), Ian Garrett (16th, 2-1), Jim Mullen (42nd, 3-1), David Osguthorpe (12th, 1-0), Roy Parkinson (7th, 2-1), Robert Pentland (11th, 2-1), Rory Robertson (2nd, 2-1), Barry Winter (22nd, 2-1) and I (25th, 1-0) are the 11 out of 21 to predict so far, that think Newcastle are going to beat league leaders Arsenal. Over 50% of our predictors have that much confidence in our side.

Jordan McKeown is the only person to have Arsenal beating us. Boooooooo Jordan.

Unsurprisingly, it's another week of ridiculous movement in the Tablecast league. First, here's the Premier League table:

ree

Don't forget, the Premier League table can always be found at toontalk.uk/league-table and helps us get lots of hits when you check it. It's an "almost live" table in that it updates every 10 minutes... it just doesn't update during games. 10 minutes after a game has finished, though, it's belta.

Anyway, enough plugging. Here's the Tablecast table:

ree

David Brown drops from 1st to 11th and Yin Mo, who was top with one game to go, ends up 2nd. Congratulations to Sara Hawthorn, who sits top of the league for, I think, the first time this season.

Biggest movers are ridiculous this week... Chris Collins has climbed from 33rd to 7th, and Stephen Wallace has dropped from 2nd to 32nd! I was bottom of the league with a game to go but I've managed to avoid it... Barry Winter is off the bottom too as Sandy Barber props up the table. Here's top vs bottom:

ree

Bet you both thought 8th was an optimistic prediction when you submitted it! Interestingly, you've only got one team between you in the bottom 3. Nobody has all three relegated sides, but Yin Mo, Barry Fyfe, Pete Charnock, Chris Collins, and Martin Soulsby all have 2. Of those, Martin and Barry plus Lee Miller, Rick Pike and Tony Bosworth are the only five people who've relegated Southampton, so, the way things are going, it's probably only going to be one of them, if any, who get all three correct when all the season's games are done.

ree

In other news, Burnley have been promoted as Champions two games before the end of the season and Vincent Kompany's side look strong. Do you think they'll stay up? What position do you reckon they'll finish? How many games of the Premier League will be left at the end of next season by the time they announce Newcastle as champions?

Once again, don't forget your SCORECAST if you've not done it yet. See yas next time :)
