Scorecast & Tablecast 17/10/2022

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Newcastle up to the lofty heights of 6th position... probably looking good for a few of your pre-season bets at this point! We also have the outright best defence in the Premier League which is absolutely astounding, more than a quarter of the way through the season. Arsenal, Man City and Spurs (the top 3) are the only other teams to have only lost one game at this point. Also quite staggering, that.

But enough about the team's performances... how are YOU lot getting on, on the Tablecast and Scorecast competitions? Well... first of all, the top and the bottom of the table has changed again... Colin Wesbroom climbing 6 places to sit atop the league! Meanwhile, Robert Pentland has fallen from 30th to prop up the rest of the table.

And here's the rest of the table:

Very happy to say I've broken into the top 10, climbing an impressive 16 places since last weekend's games... not the most impressive though, by any means. Michael Hannard was rock bottom and has climbed 24 places to 19th! Other big climbers include Dean Hadfield (22 places) and Stevie Spowart (20 places). If there's climbers, though, there have to be fallers as well and, most notably, we have John Thomas falling 19 places, Kay Waters falling 17, and an entirely new bottom 3 with Robert Pentland, Stuart Latimer and Sandy Barber falling 12, 8, and 11 places respectively.

On to Scorecast and what a week Colin Wesbroom is having! After 5 games, both he and new league leader David Russell were on 13 points having accrued 3 bullseyes and 2 correct margins! They both had 2-2 in the Man Utd vs Newcastle game so picked up another 2 points each there, and both also had City to beat Liverpool 1-3 at Anfield... but it was David who finished as top scorer this round, with another bullseye taking him to an all-time-record-equalling 18 points and the top of the table. He was 2nd after the last round, so this means he's the first to reach the half-century, and has managed to open up a 7-point lead at the top... one that might see him occupy that position for some time. Congratulations David!

Meanwhile, last year's champ John Thompson breaks into the top 10 as do Rory Robertson, Trevor Milburn, Neil Wilson and Mark Turnbull. Stephen Wallace's slip-up sees him drop from 1st to 10th... oh dear!

Other notables are Kris Woods (climbing 30 places with 13 points) and Matthew Pike (climbing 26 with the same total). Unfortunately 13 is also the number of no-shows we had for Round 6! If you've got a zero this round but you're certain you've submitted, please email rob@toontalk.uk and let me know as soon as possible, so I can rectify it!
